Periodontal disease is common, largely painless in its early stages, and associated with cardiovascular disease and poorly controlled diabetes. Measuring pockets at every visit is how we catch the trend before it becomes a diagnosis.

Protective treatments

Sealants shield the deep grooves of new molars. Fluoride varnish strengthens enamel during high-risk years. Nightguards protect teeth from grinding forces that quietly flatten and fracture them.

Home care that actually moves the needle

Two minutes of brushing twice daily plus daily cleaning between teeth outperforms any product claim. Our hygienists will show you the technique that fits your mouth rather than a generic one.

How often do I need X-rays?

Frequency depends on your risk. Low-risk adults may need bitewings every 18 to 24 months; higher-risk patients need them more often.

My gums bleed when I floss — should I stop?

No. Bleeding usually signals inflammation from plaque. Consistent daily cleaning typically resolves it within a couple of weeks; if it does not, come in.

Is a deep cleaning the same as a regular cleaning?

No. Scaling and root planing treats active gum disease below the gumline and is a therapeutic procedure, not routine maintenance.
